Changes in IT are the order of the day. Technologies often change. Even many IT concepts are revised, discarded or renewed. The requirements on applications, arising from changing business processes, are constantly presenting new challenges for the generally small IT teams in small to medium-sized businesses.

These tasks often take up the entire time of IT departments and let processing and maintenance of the IT infrastructure such as storage, servers, operating systems and networks take a back seat. Internationale Veranstaltungen sind eine Herausforderung für den Veranstalter, die Kommissionen und die Organisatoren. Für die Deutsche Keramische Gesellschaft e.V. (DKG) stellte sich die Herausforderung beginnend im Jahr 2005 als die Autoren für über 600 Vorträge aus allen Kontinenten zur "10th International Conference and Exhibition of the European Ceramic Society" im Juni 2007 nach Berlin  eingeladen werden sollten. Alle Autoren müssen sich registrieren und ihre Vorträge durch eine internationale Jury bewerten lassen. Dieses Projekt hat die DKG durch ein Congress-Portal der Autowork GmbH & Co. KG realisieren lassen.
